I am beginning to have some doubts regarding Katy/Sam and Cotton Angora after reading a few reviews of both Katy's pattern and the yarn itself.

I love the colour and the yarn feels fantastic to touch but to quote the review on Knitter's Review "I would recommend against any significantly ribbed or cabled patterns. Initially, they will look absolutely beautiful. But there isn't enough bounce or fiber memory to hold their shape with wear." Sam is ribbed and Katy is cabled. Maybe I'll swatch and wash tonight and see what happens.

Any one have any thoughts? Has anyone else used this yarn or knit the pattern?

I knit Sam but in a different yarn (50/50 cotton/acrylic). I knit Mia in Cotton Angora and found it far too droopy/slouchy/heavy. I'm ripping it out to try somehting new with it.

I also read that the cotton angora yarn gets icky after wearing, like the angora clumps up all over it. I agree you should go with another yarn. I have that book and have found that it isn't too hard to find subs in that gauge at all.

I turned Sam into a pullover and made her in Cotton-ease, which I adore. I don't really care for the cotton angora in my stash, but I love the patterns in the book.

The Cotton Angora looks beautiful, however, it choked me when I was knitting a cardigan for my daughter and I had to wear an apron to save my clothes from the fallout. It eventually proved to be unwearable as it covered everything and anybody in the vicinity whenever she wore it. Knitters Beware!
